Based on the Huawei K3765

I was pleasantly surprised how easy this was. The replacement firmware for the Vodafone stick is also so much better than the Vodafone software. Even if you are sticking with Vodafone I can see advantages in replacing the firmware alone.

  1. First of all download and install the new firmware for the UBS modem. This firmware is available from here
  2. Secondly unlock the USB modem. To do this we need to find the IMEI number.
    1. To do this go into modem properties and query the modem. This YouTube video shows you how. I prefer to go into a terminal session and query ati1.
    2. Once you have the IMEI number go to this site to find the unlock code.
  3. The last option to do now is to create a profile in the new software called Mobile Partner to make a connection. Just set the profile, depending on your provider for:
    1. APN
    2. Number
    3. Authentication
