You can easily install NTP (Network Time Protocol, a means of transmitting time signals over a computer network) using yum command under Redhat or CentOS/Fedora core Linux.

Installation

yum install ntp

Turn on service

chkconfig ntpd on

Synchronize

the system clock with ntp.bri.connect.com.au server:

ntpdate ntp.bri.connect.com.au

Edit the following file to configure the NTP server(s) of choice.
/etc/ntp.conf

# --- OUR TIMESERVERS -----
# Use public servers from the pool.ntp.org project.
# Please consider joining the pool (http://www.pool.ntp.org/join.html).
server 0.centos.pool.ntp.org
server 1.centos.pool.ntp.org
server 2.centos.pool.ntp.org

Starting

Start the NTP:

/etc/init.d/ntpd start

or

service ntpd start
